There once was a ten year old girl named Sue who loved animals. Everyone she knew has pet. Her friend Kate had a black lab. Her cousin Megan had a tabby cat. Even her brother had a pet hamster. Sue wanted a pet!

She dreamed of having a pet of her own. It had to be something her friends did not have. To get ideas on how to find the right pet for her, she rode her scooter to the zoo. It was a sunny day, and the letters ZOO on the arched entranceway sparkled in the sunlight. Sue was very excited. It was the perfect day to find a pet.

First Sue rode past the fierce tiger sleeping in the sun. "What a great pet this big beautiful cat would make! I could ride on his back to school and all my friends would be impressed. But if he ate the principal, I would get in big trouble." So she kept looking.

Sue scootered to the alligator swamp. The alligators were snapping at each other. "The alligator would be a great pet. It could live in my bath tub. But my brother would tell on me when it was his bath time."

Next, Sue rode to the monkey house and saw the monkeys swinging from branch to branch. "A monkey would make a perfect pet. He could come to school with me and make all my friends laugh. But, when it was lunchtime, he might start a food fight and I would get detention."

Sue rode to the giraffe yard. She saw a long necked giraffe eating leaves from a tree. "This would be the perfect pet, but he wouldn´t fit in the car on family vacations."

Sue was all out of ideas for a pet. She felt miserable.

"Everyone has a pet except me," Sue said to the zookeeper. "The why do you have a frog in scooter basket?" asked the zookeeper.

"A frog? Where did you come from? You are perfect. I´ll name you Boogy."

"Ribbit!"

"Let´s go home!"

"Ribbit!"
